Happy New Year 2013

This New Year's Eve, I had the pleasure of working for the NY Philharmonic. Occasionally, they have special concerts with guests.  A few years back, I did one with Idina Menzel.  This one was a tribute to Marvin Hamlisch and there were many guest artists.

These concerts consist usually of prepping the guest artist's clothes, maybe light repairs.  This one, however, also had a day of alterations.  The reason?  Paper Mill Playhouse's "A Chorus Line" was performing and their costumes had moved on.  So, costumes were borrowed, and while very close, needed tweaking.

The picture is a small sewing kit. The tapestry suitcase has my sewing machine in it.  The blue J.Crew bag is loaded with hooks, snaps, thread, Static Guard, Double sided tape, zipper glide, starch, needles, pins, both safety and straight.  Oh, and my purse, which usually has some sort of snips or seam ripper in it, along with a tape measure.

On the day of the concert, I was very happy to be assisted by my friend Kat Martin, who also worked with me on "Harvey", the show I wardrobe supervised this past summer. I had new repairs come up after the rehearsals and she did the bulk of the costume prep.   I also saw some faces that I had worked with before, including Larry Lelli, the fantastic drummer from Million Dollar Quartet.  (He also has a vlog
