Natalie's Wedding Dress, Summer 2022

I don't usually post alterations that I have done.  But, this summer, I altered my pal Natalie's wedding dress.

There was a lot of hemming. I made her walk a runway many many times, so that hem would be right.  We discussed how to walk in that dress.  (Kick out a little, if you want to know).   I also took up the sleeves and had to move a few flowers around.  I sent her with extra beads, thread, flowers and topstick.

Here are some beautiful pictures from that day!

Repairing Embroidered Chiffon

Can you find the repair in the embroidered chiffon?

This picture has the needle showing you the one end. It is single thread weaving and tiny stitches. The trick to make it hidden? If you can, start from one embroidery point to another.

Sometimes, you can't.  So, just find an anchor point to make it look organic.

In 2004, I was commissioned to make a skirt for a bride.  (I've actually done a few.)

So, I bought a pattern to use as a sloper.  I knew that there were going to be changes.  We also got some lovely satin.

Mainly, it was adding a train.  My friend Derek is holding the train.  This isn't hemmed yet.

Here is LeeAnn!  Her corset was made by a friend of mine, Lawrence Bell.

Greatcoat

I made this greatcoat ages ago for my friend Dr. D.  I'm still pleased with it, but I should have used a covered button.
